These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Griffith University (Gold Coast) Student Guild (“we”) and govern your participation in any Social Sport, programs or competitions (“Social Sport”) at the facilities, grounds, courts, fields (“Venues”) we operate or hire. Please read these Terms carefully before participating in any Social Sport.
a) Acceptance of Terms. By participating in any Social Sport, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms, just as if you had agreed to these Terms in writing. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not participate in any Social Sport.
b) Amendment of Terms. We may amend the Terms from time to time. Unless we provide a delayed effective date, all amendments will be effective upon Social Sport posting the updated Terms. Your continued participation in any Social Sport Leagues after the posting of the amended Terms constitutes your consent to be bound by the Terms as amended.
Griffith University (Gold Coast) Student Guild is a service provider that organises social sport for students of Griffith University, with allowances made for non-student participants as per these terms.
Your participation in any Social Sport may be subject to additional waivers, policies, rules or conditions of the Venue where Social Sport is conducted. Social Sport or the applicable Venue may restrict your access if you do not agree to or comply with such conditions or these Terms. If you have questions about a Venue’s waiver or other terms, please see the applicable Venue’s website or contact the Venue directly.
Although we endeavour to offer Social Sport that is safe, you understand that there are certain inherent risks and dangers in participation in sport and that the games you may play in will vary in intensity and skill level.
By playing in Social Sport, you acknowledge and agree, on behalf of yourself, your heirs, personal representatives and/or assigns that you are aware of these risks which include, but are not limited to, property damage, illness and bodily injury or death. You acknowledge that some of these risks cannot be eliminated and you specifically assume the risk of injury or harm. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to consult with your primary care physician prior to participating and to determine if and how participating in any Social Sport.
Therefore, to the fullest extent permitted by law, you release, indemnify, and hold harmless Griffith University (Gold Coast) Student Guild, and each of their respective officers, directors, members, employees, consultants, contract employees, representatives and agents, and each of their respective successors and assigns, from any and all responsibility, claims, actions, suits, procedures, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities (including for ordinary negligence and the application of any of the provisions of Subdivision B of Division 1 of Part 3-2 of the Australian Consumer Law) arising out of or in any way related to your participation in Social Sport Leagues, including with respect to bodily injury, physical harm, illness, death or property damage.
Griffith University (Gold Coast) Student Guild is able to provide a level of reimbursement of Non-Medicare medical expenses for injuries sustained while participating in Social Sport.
Current students of Griffith University, as determined by the active enrolment within one or more subjects at Griffith University, are covered against all non-Medicare medical expenses as determined under G-Safe Principles.
Non-students of Griffith University acknowledge and agree that all out of pocket, medical expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
As a condition of participation in Social Sport, you agree to the Code of Conduct that is outlined in the in the ‘Rules’ section of the sport you are participating in.
Griffith University (Gold Coast) Student Guild has the right to take any action deemed necessary in the best interests of all participants and all decisions relating to discipline are final.
