The ‘Feelings Tree’ was a big hit on the R U OK Day, with students taking the time to reflect on how they feel. Sometimes it is hard to answer the question ‘R U OK’ but the tree offered an indirect outlet for answering the question. This activity gave the Wellness Warriors an opportunity to interact with students promote meaningful conversations. “The feeling tree on R U OK Day was a good concept to help encourage students to talk. A lot of students these days are afraid to give voice to their feelings in fear of being judged. The tree showed that it’s ok to not be ok and it’s ok to talk about it. A personal experience was that I got to know that a lot of people do not feel as they show it, which made me realise that there’s more similar programs needed to let people know that there’s help out there” – Emese Novak, Wellness Warrior.
