In 2018, the Student Guild is taking its annual volunteering trip to rural Northern Thailand. Experience the very best Thailand has to offer this summer, and spend two weeks helping in an elephant sanctuary and supporting a hill-tribe village.
In Thailand, elephants are often abused as working animals in shows or for street begging; many ending up disabled, blind or orphaned. Elephant sanctuaries offer a safe haven for these majestic animals.
By volunteering in an elephant sanctuary you will have the opportunity to care for and swim with elephants for a whole week! This adventure will allow you to bond with these beautiful animals and to support the work of the sanctuary, to offer a better future to the elephants of Thailand.
Although Thailand is increasingly being seen as a developed destination, it still has many economic and cultural problems. Thailand faces many social issues and marginalised groups, particularly hill-tribes, who often don’t receive the support they need. Spend some time among these amazing communities volunteering your time and energy towards building a stronger future for these amazing people!
